On 31 January 2017, the French petroleum group Total finalized the disposal of its subsidiary Atotech, global leader in plating processes, to US funds Carlyle, as announced in October 2016.

The $3.2 billion disposal of Atotech, whose headquarters are located in Berlin, is a major primary LBO among those completed in Germany these last years. Operating in approximately 40 countries, Atotech has a workforce of over 4.000 employees, notably in Germany and Asia and its turnover in 2015 was above €1 billion.

Legal advisors:

Atotech’s management was advised by Scotto & Associés, with a team led by partner Isabelle Cheradame, and further composed of partner Nicolas Menard-Durand, Franck Vacher and Camille Perrin on the corporate aspects, as well as partner Jérôme Commerçon, Laurence Gautier and Loïc Muller on the tax aspects of the transaction.
